My Bio
ART BACKGROUND
A graduate from NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, I received my bachelor of fine arts in 1999. Since then I have been showing my work in a variety of venues- restaurants, galleries and festivals. I took an interdisciplinary approach at school, experimenting with jewellery, ceramics, and textiles but my main area of interest now is painting.
I use a variety of mediums, oil, acrylic, watercolour, inks, and will continue exploring these materials. I work from life, photos or my imagination to create photo realistic works, studies, abstract ideas/concepts, and graphic, decorative works on canvas or paper.
My illustrations can be seen in an educational children¹s book, Selina An Atlantic Salmon by Don Downer. The book explores the life cycle of the Atlantic salmon; it can be ordered at www.uccbpress.com or through Chapters. I am currently working on other projects in this area.
I also paint wall murals, and furniture. If you are interested in custom paintings on canvas, murals or painted furniture, please leave your contact information and I would be happy to discuss any ideas you may want to persue.
PERSONAL HISTORY
As a child, I moved around frequently, as part of a military family. I was fortunate to experience different cultures and many different styles of art and architecture. I began school in Bermuda, and spent my high school years living in Germany and travelling around Europe. I recently spent time teaching English in Asia which brought about new inspiration for my work.
I am currently residing in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
